Match Reports – Skechers National Cup:
Both sides needed to get something from this game – the 5th time they had met this season and with both sides dominating a half each a draw was probably a fair result.
Lee Kelly Obi put the visitors 1-0 up in the 22nd minute with Cillian Cooney volleying Kerry level in the 54rd minute following a Cian Brosnan free kick.
Celtic win the 12’s National Cup Killarney derby:
The Killarney Celtic versus Killarney Athletic derby in the 12’s National Cup Round 2 was played under lights at Celtic Park in midweek. The goals came from Joey McCarthy and Fiana Bradley with Oisin Fleming pulling the string in mid-week. But Celtic needed Pierce Moynihan in goals to be in top form while defenders Tom Purcell and Cillian Murphy also stood tall.
5 Kerry sides progress in the 13’s National Cup:
The uneven ages for the National Cup began on a high note for a number of Kerry sides. In the Skechers 13’s Round 1 Listowel Celtic won the all Kerry battle defeating Killarney Athletic 2-1. Oisin Lynch got the goal for the Killarney side.
Castleisland who led 2-0 at half time proved to be the stronger in extra time as they defeated Corbally United 5-3 after extra time. The game finished 3-3 at full time. Castleisland are now through thanks to goals from Killian Dennehy and Mint O’Connor who both hit 2 each and David Healy who got the other goal.
In Round 2 going through are The Park who defeated Iveragh United 6-1. Andrew Kerins hit a hat trick and these were added to by Jay Jay Olajitan, Odhran Kerins and Ryan McMahon with Kerins having assists in all three goals.
Killarney Celtic had it mostly their own way at home to County Limerick Shoutrade AFC. With Jamie Moynihan dominating amongst the Celtic scorers were Mikey Murphy, Josh Bowler and Mikey O’Grady. The home side were 4 up at the break and this was doubled by the final whistle.
There was hard luck for Tralee Dynamos as they lost out 4-3 away to Broadford after extra time. Pierce Lowth, Eoin O’Flaherty and Adam Evans while Shayne Stack also thought he scored from a tree kick but inexplicably the referee disallowed it.
National Cup 15’s Round 3 beckons for Kerry sides:
Killarney Celtic are into Round 3 thanks to a 2-0 win at home to Castleisland. The Park went to Murroe and came back with a 5-0 win. The goals for the Tralee side came from Killian Murphy2, Sean Hill, Colin Doody and Sean O’Connor.
Killorglin had a very good win away to Holycross. Eoghan Hassett hit 3 with the other goals coming from Ryan Diggin, Daragh O’Grady, Brendan Casey and Cillian Foley. Ballyhar will be delighted with their 2-0 away win at Murroe. Stephen Palmer and Luke Ring got the goals.
Killarney Athletic and Tralee Dynamos are out going down to Shannonside and Fairview Rangers respectively.

There were a number of even age games also played this week with The Park and LB Rovers playing out a 0-0 draw in mid-week in the JK Sports 12 Premier. Sam Slattery was the best player for the Tralee boys while keeper Brian Dineen and Daithi Keane Tyrrell were LB Rovers best.
JK Sports 12 Division 1
Camp Juniors were the first leaders in the JK 12 Division 1. They defeated Ballyhar in mid-week thanks to goals from Dara Murphy 2, Robert Keane and Mark Farrell who all got two each with Devden Mukherjee also on the score-sheet.
Fenit were too strong for Listowel Celtic B on Saturday and their goals came from Jayden Deedy, Aaron Harty, Tom Quilter, Cian McKenna, Gregory Clifford and Kealen Dowd. Jack Nolan was their best player leading the defence to a clean sheet.
Park win in Division 2 North:
St Brendan’s Park were 2-0 winners at home to Fenit in the 12’s Division 2 with Michael Quirke getting both goals.
One win and one draw in 13’s Division 1:
Killorglin B were 4-2 winners over Camp Juniors in the Daly’s Supervalu 13’s Division 1. Killorglin were 2-0 up thank to goals from Shane Clifford and Cian O’Brien. Camp Juniors pulled one back through Devden Mukherjee but a more experienced Killorglin side hit two more before the break from Jesse O’Reilly.
Credit to this Camp Juniors young side they took the game to the opposition in the second half and got the only goal of the period when Diarmuid Waugh scored directly from a corner. Paudie Fitzgerald put in a player of the match performance.
Inter Kenmare and Dingle Bay Rovers played out an exciting 3-3 draw with James Hoare 2 and Cian McGearailt getting the goals for the West Kerry side. For the home side Player of the Week Barry Fitzsimons hit 2 with Zack O’Shea getting the other goal.
Both Park sides and Fenit win in 13’s Division 2 North:
The Park C were too strong for Listowel Celtic B and took the point thank to Brayden Pierce, Ryan Driscoll, Ciaran O’Connell, Ronan Carroll, Sam Slattery, Jamie McCarthy, Noah Carroll and Jerry Lynch who all hit the net.
Fenit just got the better of LB Rovers in a 7 goal thriller. Aaron Harty and Tom Quilter both hit two each for Fenit who saw Billy Doyle put in a great performance in midfield. Leigh Meehan hit two for LB Rovers with TJ O’Sullivan getting the other goal.
The Park B were 3-0 winners away to Castleisland B and their goals came from William Jakovi and Eldion Tapoli.
Mid-week and weekend action in 13 Division 2 South
Dingle Bay Rovers had a good week in Daly’s Supervalu 13’s Division 2 North winning in midweek and at the weekend. Firstly they beat Killorglin B 6-2. In the game Oisin O’Dowd and Darragh Lynch got the goals for Killorglin but two from Patrick Cahill and Padraig Manning and one each from Edgar Mulaviv and Kiernan gave the West Kerry side the points who had Cathal Farrell as their player of the match.
On Saturday goals from Edgar who hit 3 as did Patrick Cahill and one each from Jack Sheehy and Padraig Manning saw them see off Mastergeeha B whose goals came from Barry Collins and Jack O’Brien.
MEK were also in goal scoring form as they won at home to Killorglin C. James Clifford, Aaron Dinham, Tom O’Dowd, Cian Fleming and Noah O’Shea got the goals with Dinham the stand-out player from an all- round good team showing.
It was much closer in Murt Scott where the home side just saw off Killarney Athletic B 3-2. Daithi O’Shea, Michael O’Sullivan and Kristupas scored for the home side while Daire Kingston got both the goals for Athletic.
8 goal thriller in 15’s Division 1:
Mastergeeha and Fenit could not be separate as both sides shared the points in an 8 goal thriller. Mark O’Shea, Daire Callaghan, Donagh Fahy and Dara Fitzgerald got the goals for the home side in Kilbrean Park. Eddie McCarthy hit three for Fenit with Robert Monaghan the other goal. Ben Donnellan was excellent for the visitors at centre back.
Three games in the 15’s Division 2:
MEK came from behind to defeat Listowel Celtic B 2-1 with both their goals coming in the second half. Sam Griffin and Kevin Harant got the goals with captain Daire McCarthy leading the way from central midfield.
Tralee Dynamos and Killorglin B drew 3-3. Eoin Lynch, Oisin Lynch and Sean Browne got the Killorglin goals who had good performance from Ryan McCormack and Eoin Joy.
Inter Kenmare and LB Rovers also played out a 3-3 draw. Adem Gul2 and Sean Treyvaud were on the mark for Inter with Kieran O’Connell hitting all three for the Rovers.
