Mid Week Games:
The Kerry Schoolboys League kicked off with three mid week games. Of course the new age system has seen all these players move up two years so it will take a while for things to settle down.
In the 14 Division 1 Asdee welcomed Park B and it was the home side who took the points by the odd goal in seven. Cian Makessey got 2 while Seamus O’Sullivan and Liam Culhane scored one each in a 4-3 win.
Killarney Celtic proved too strong for neighbours Athletic the first derby of the season. Liam Carey and Jordan Kiely were in unstoppable form with Carey hitting 5 and Kiely netting a hat trick. Kyle Griffin replied for Athletic.
Ballyheigue made their very welcome debut in the Kerry Schoolboys League but it wasn’t a winning one going down 5-0 to Ballyhar. James O’Connor, William Courtney and Sean Burke were amongst the goals.
Park A, Listowel Celtic and Killarney Celtic all opened their 12’s Premier campaign with wins. The Park A were much too strong for Killarney Athletic. Gearoid Shanahan had a day to remember hitting 5. The other scores for the Tralee boys were Dean Scanlon, Gearoid Fitzgerald, Conor Higgins and Donnagh McMahon.
Killarney Celtic made the short trip to Kilbrean Park and came away with the three points in a 4-1 over Mastergeeha. Michael Lenihan and Jack Hanrahan both hit a brace of goals.
Listowel Celtic opened their campaign with a home 5-2 win over Kingdom Boys. Aidan Shanahan got 2 as did Jake Kelly while Shane Loughnane got the other.
12’s Div 1:
The two away sides Killorglin and Killarney Celtic B were winners on opening Saturday getting the better of Listowel Celtic B and Park B respectively. For Killorglin Kieran Whittleton, Gary O’Connor, Tiernan O’Sullivan and Conor Sugrue were the goal scorers in a 4-0 win.
Celtic B proved too strong for Park B with Dara Looney, Oisin Looney and Gregory Geniyesky all hit two goals while Jason Cahillane and Pierce Lyne Roberts from the penalty spot were the other scorers.
14’s Division 1 South:
Inter Kenmare were a very good under 12 side last season and carried that form into the first game of the new season. They were much too strong for visitors Killarney Celtic B. Chris O’Sullivan Casey, Darragh Sweeney and Denis Cronin got 2 each while Darragh Siochru, James Jones and Tom O’Sullivan were also on the mark.
14’s Division 1 North:
Ballyhar will be very happy with their 8-2 opening win over Camp. John McMahon and Ciaran O’Connor both hit hat tricks with Kieran Griffin and Donnacha O’Sullivan got the other two.
A Brian Hill hat trick and one from Ivan Parker were enough to give Fenit all three points in their opening day clash away to the Park. Jessie O’Sullivan and Cian Sheridan replied for the home side.
Castlemaine also won on the road with a 2-0 win in Mastergeeha. Jonathan O’Sullivan from the spot and Cathal O’Connor were the scorers.
