Galway Cup 2017 Groups and Fixtures:
The final tournament of the summer for Kerry’s Schoolboys is the Galway Cup that takes place from August 9th to 12th in Salthill Devon’s grounds in Drom in Galway.
Kerry have two under 13 squads, consisting of 20 players on each squad, entered in the 2004 Elite and 2004/05 Boys sections in a tournament that features teams from Ireland and abroad including Colorado Rapids from the US, Glenavon from the North and Leeds United from the UK.
Kerry’s squads have been training for the last number of weeks under head coach Joe O’Reilly and coaches Robert Sibanda, Tom Kelly and Ronan McCarthy.
The Kerry Elite squad are in a group with Galway District League, Cavan /Monaghan and WWEC. They kick off their group fixtures against the Galway DL at 10.40am on Wednesday August 9th and play WWEC at 4.45pm on the same day.
On Thursday at 9.30pm Kerry face Cavan/Monoghan while Friday afternoon will see the semi-finals and play offs with the finals on Saturday, the final day of the tournament.
The 2004/05 Boys are joined by Salthill Devon and Cavan /Monaghan in their Group stages. Their format is cross-group so they begin their tournament on Wednesday afternoon when they face Avenue United Academy at 2.25pm. They take on Carlow on Thursday at the same time and end the Group phase on Friday at 1pm against Roscommon Tigers.
The top two sides in each group meet in the final at 2.25 on Saturday with the 3rd and 4th place and 5th/6th place games on at the same time.
