Kerry subdue Desmond League in Subway 16’s

SFAI Subway 16’s Inter League:
Kerry 2-0 Desmond League:
These teams have been having a great battle over the last few years with Kerry defeating them in the Kennedy Cup final in 2014. Last year it was the Desmond League that won in the Munster final before going on to win the All Ireland title.
Going into this game the Desmond League had won their 2 games while Kerry were playing their opening tie.
Therefore this win for Danny Diggins side, on an excellent Listowel Celtic pitch, was a vital one. Both sides had half chances with the Desmond League possibly shading it but it looked like it would remain scoreless until the break.
However James Rusk had other ideas and he ventured up from his centre half position and unleashed an unstoppable shot from 35 yards to give Kerry the lead.
The home side secured the win early in the second half when Leon Shalemba chased down a long ball, robbed the defender and drilled his effort across the box. With two Kerry players waiting for the tap in the Desmond League defender turned the ball into his own ney.
Kerry will play Limerick District in another vital clash this Sunday, also in Listowel Celtic.
