Home win for 14’s in EA Sports League of Ireland
The Kerry 14’s ended their home games in the EA Sports 14’s League of Ireland Shield with an impressive 2-0 win over Carlow /Kilkenny. The game was hosted by Tralee Dynamos and the goals came from Dawid Grebowiec and Darragh Lynch. The first came after ten minutes when Shay Kelliher sat up Grebowiec who headed past the visiting keeper.
Kerry had to defend a strong second half from Carlow/Kilkenny and did this very well. In the closing minutes the win was wrapped up when Lynch broke clear, rounded the keeper and slotted home much to the joy of everyone from Kerry present.
Late heartbreak in Kennedy Cup Group game:
Kerry and Limerick District both won their opening Kennedy Cup games so their clash in Group F in UL would go a long way to deciding who would top the Group.
The home side started the brighter but the Kerry defence did well with Eanna Murphy and Nathan Cronin making two very important blocks. And then the Kerry keeper Pierce Moynihan made an excellent one handed save to keep the sides level.
Kerry grew into the game and dominated the last ten minutes of the half with Murphy, Brian O’Shea and Ryan O’Driscoll all hitting the target.
Kerry continued to press after half time and 5 minutes in a good move saw the ball crossed into the box and Ronan Carroll did very well to volley home. However within ten minutes the sides were level when Jayden O’Donovan scored from the penalty spot.
With less than five minutes left the game looked like ending in a draw which probably would have been a fair result but cruelly the home side scored the winner. Aaron Cusack wriggled past two defenders and finished expertly into the bottom corner of the Kerry net.
Kerry will be at home to North Tipperary in their final Group game with Limerick Districk away to Limerick County.
Gaynor 15’s make the perfect start but the 13’s lose out:
The Kerry Gaynor 15’s made the perfect start to their 2021 campaign with a 3-0 away win in West Cork. Kerry got off to the perfect start when a Izzy McGrath corner was deflected into the West Cork net. The second goal was the best of the day when a corner from Hannah McGearailt was flicked on by Emma O’Connor to Ellie Doolan who set up Suvi O’Connor to score. O’Connor wrapped up the win with her second and Kerry’s third.
The Kerry 13’s lost out to a very strong Limerick Desmond side in Askeaton who were following up on their opening day win at home to Cork.
Next up the Kerry 13’s will be at home to South Tipperary, who lost to Cork at the weekend, with the Kerry 15’s facing the same League’s 15’s.
