Match Reports:
Carlow / Kilkenny defeat Kerry in League Shield:
A goal in both halves saw Carlow/Kilkenny defeat Kerry 2-0 in the League Shield. In the battle of the two unbeaten sides in this Group the home sides scored in the 19th minute and then from the penalty spot in the 48th minutes.
Kerry are away to Cobh Ramblers this Saturday with Carlow/Kilkenny home to Waterford.
Killorglin and Listowel Celtic win 13 Premier openers:
Killirglin and Listowel Celtic opened their Daly’s Supervalu 13 Premier campaigns with wins.
Killorglin went 1-0 up in the first half at home to Tralee Dynamos A. It got better for the home side when they added two more without reply after the break. The goals came from Andrew Owens and Jack McGrath who was making his A team debut. Niall O’Brien was the best player on show for Killorglin.
Listowel Celtic won 2-1 at home to Killarney Celtic with all the goals coming in the second half. Luke O’Regan put the home side 1-0 up 15minutes after the break before Jamie Moynihan equalised for Killarney Celtic 5 minutes later.
The winner came from Evan Boyle mid-way through the second half giving Listowel Celtic the best possible start to the new season.
Inter Kenmare go top of 13’s Division 1:
Inter Kemare put in a great performance against a young Tralee Dynamos side who battled to the end. The Inter goals came from Barry Fitzsimons, Zach O’Shea, Ben O’Callaghan, Daniel Grebowiec and Darragh Murphy from the penalty spot.
The game between Killarney Celtic B and Mastergeeha A was a cracker. Emmet Spillane put Mastergeeha 1-0 before two goals from Joey McCarthy put Celtic ahead at the break. Within a few minutes of the restart Jack Tangney had brought the sides level again.
Celtic hit back with Oisin Fleming looking like he had won the 3 points for the Killarney side. However within 4 minutes of the end John Hughes, who was the man of the match for his side, drew the sides level. Tom Purcell was the best Celtic player on the day where both sides gave it their all.
Athletic B win 13 Division 2 South battle of the B’S:
Killarney Athletic B put in a very strong performance as they saw off Mastergeeha B at Kilbrean Park. For the home side Gavin Morrissey was the best player on a day that went against them. On the mark for Killarney Athletic were Luke Doolan, Daire Kingston, Thomas Healy, Denzel Aydiner, David O’Brien, Glen Bowler and from Glen and Oran O’Neill.
Castleisland come from behind in 13 Division 2 North:
Two goals from Leigh Meehan gave LB Rovers a 2-1 lead at half time at home to Castleisland B with Eoghan Shire’s goal keeping the visitors in the game.
However the second half was a different story with Shire getting his second and this was added to by goals from Declan Murray and Evan Brennan. Patrick Walsh pulled one back for the home side but time ran out on them as they chased an equaliser.
In the clash of the two St Brendan’s Park teams it was the C’s that saw off the B’s. For the C’s the goals came from Oisin Cronin, Ryan Driscoll, Ronan Carroll, Jerry Lynch, Liam O’Connell, and Sam Slattery. Their best player on the day was Daniel Sheehy. The B’s goals came from William Jakovi who got two and Jakob Murkowski.
Celtic draw level late to draw with Ballyhar in the 15 Premier:
The opening game of the Killarney Plaza 15 Premier saw Killarney Celtic and Ballyhar share the points at Celtic Park. Ballyhar went ahead early with James Horgan scoring twice. Hugh Walsh was their man of the match at centre half.
Sean Fitzgerald pulled one back for Killarney Celtic before the break and then the same player got his second with 15 minutes to go. Both sides pushed hard for the winner but had to be happy with a point each. Fitzgerald with his two goals was Celtic’s best player.
LB Rovers and Inter Kenmare win in Division 2:
It’s great to see two of the newer clubs in the League now fielding teams at this age group, players that have come through the clubs from the early days.
On this occasion it was LB Rover that won 5-2 away at MEK. The winner’s goals came from Kieran O’Carroll 2, Joseph Finch and one from Liam Connolly. They also had good performances from keeper Adam O’Mahony and Leigh Meehan.
For MEK the scorers were Sam Griffin and Eddie Moroney with Eden Murphy being their player of the game.
Inter Kenmare made the trip to Tralee a winning one with goals from Jamie O’Regan and Yago Cornide who both scored twice. Aiden Crowley and Timothy O’Donoghue got one each in the win. Aiden Crowley was the best player of the day for Inter Kenmare.
Friendly Pre=Season for the Girls
Fenit and St Brendan’s Park are doing great work and ahead of the Girls League season where a record 21 teams are entered both sides u16’s teams played out a 3-3 draw.
The sides were 2-2 at the break and each side hit one more in the second half. For Fenit Muireann O’Brien, Saoirse Donovan and Leah Galloway got the goals with Lauren Dowling hitting a hat trick for The Park.
13’s and 15’s Trials this Sunday:
With the Subway Inter League’s getting underway at u13’s and u15’s in the next few weeks and finishing in January ahead of the next League of Ireland seasons trials for these age groups ETP’s and Inter League teams get underway this Sunday:
The trials take place at Killarney Celtic with players to bring footwear suitable for both Grass and All Weather pitches.
For the u13’s the players from the North Kerry clubs are to be ready at 10.30 and the players from the South at 12.15.
All players interested in taking part in the u15’s ETP’s are to be ready for their trials starting at 2pm.
Clubs must send the names, ages and positions of the players that are attending at both ages groups to the League Secretary – no later than Friday lunch-time.
