Reports from a very busy week in Cup, Shield and League action:
Park Regional Champions again:
In the SFAI Skeechers 14’s Regional Final St Brendan’s won 2-1 away at Listowel Celtic. For this team it’s their second Regional win in a row as they were the 13’s winner last year.
Played in ideal conditions on a perfect pitch at Pat Kennedy Park it was expected before the game that there would be very little between these sides and so it proved.
But it was The Park that were on the front foot from early on and the Listowel Celtic defence and keeper had to stand strong on a number of occasions with Aisling Kelly doing a very good job on the Park danger man Messiah Chirwa.
However they were breached in the 20th minute when a very good Park move saw Cianan Cooney finish low to the net to put the Tralee side 1-0 up.
However Listowel Celtic did not drop their heads and upped the tempo. It did look like they would go in 1-0 at the break but in the 38th minute they drew level. After sustained pressure a Robert Stack corner was finished to the net by Aoife Horgan.
The second half continued with both sides playing great football thrilling the big crowd that were enjoying the game as much as the sunshine. Both sides had chances to win in and indeed both sides also hit the crossbar.
In the end it was the Park that won it with a very good goal from Cillian Murphy to continue what is turning into very impressive season who are still in the hunt for a number of other trophies. While Listowel Celtic will be disappointed they also have had a good year and their day will come.
Celtic girls on the double in the Cup:
Killarney Celtic girls enjoyed an impressive double win in the 12’s Girls Cup quarter finals.
12 Girls Cup quarter finals:
Killarney Celtic White are into the 12’s Cup semi-final and are on the hunt for a double as their 4-1 over Listowel Celtic also ensured they will end the season as 12 Girls Shield champions. Micheala O’Meara hit two goals on the night with Abbie Finnan and Naoishe Cantillion getting one each. But it was not all one way traffic as Aoibhin Kelly had to make a number of good saves to keep the Killarney side ahead. Listowel Celtic’s goal came from Ruth O’Connor.
Killarney Celtic Green are also into the Last 4 of the Cup as they also stay on course for a double as they have already won the Premier division. However they were made fight all the way by a very good Inter Kenmare Blue side. There was nothing between the sides in normal time but it was the Killarney girls that got the goals in extra time to take the win. They came from Elizabeth Coffey and a cracking long range effort by Leah McMahon to see them win 2-0.
Iveragh into 12’s Cup semi-final:
Iveragh United took the final place in the John Murphy 12’s Cup semi-final as they got past Tralee Dynamos 1-0 after extra time. The all-important goal came from David Kennedy with David Murphy making a number of very good saves to see his side home.
Iveragh United now join Killarney Athletic A, Castleisland and Killorglin A in the draw for the semi-finals.
John Joe Naughton 13 Cup quarter finals:

Killarney Celtic were very happy to come away from Christy Leahy Park with a win over The Park. The game finished 1-1 after extra time with Kelvin O’Sullivan getting the Celtic goal. Venis Jahiri replied for the Park. But after the spot kicks it was Celtic that progress on a 4-3 score-line.
Killorglin saw off Iveragh United in a tight game. A goal by Zak Fayen put the South Kerry side ahead at half time. But two second half goals from John Burke saw Killorglin progress who had keeper Darragh Crosby to thank after a number of vital saves. Listowel Celtic and Inter Kenmare will battle it out for the final place in the semi-finals.
