Killarney Celtic 0-5 Ballingarry

killarney Celtic girls tried hard against a brilliant well drilled Ballingarry side who were just too good and dominated from start to finish . They went ahead after 5 mins from their outstanding playmaker Annabelle Mulcaire Quill, and we held out till close to half time when they got the second goal from their pacey left winger Eleanor Blake.

Killarney Celtic battled gamely 2nd half , Sadbh O’Brien , Ciara Forde and Tara Cronin in goal fought a valiant rear-guard action supported by Sadbh O’Halloran, Erin O’Sullivan broke up the play in midfield, but Ballingarry added a further 3 goals in 2nd half the highlight a team goal finished again by their left winger. Killarney Celtic never gave up but we only created a couple of attacks through link up play Jessica Leggate and Amelia Carroll Kelly , and a some great runs from Ali Bowler who we could not get on the ball enough. Ballingarry made a nice gesture before the game exchanging pennants and chocolates , and a minute silence in honour of Padraig Hartnett RIP which was hugely appreciated. Player of the match Tara Cronin in goals who was superb throughout.

We wish Ballingarry the best of luck going forward. Killarney Celtic now go in to the  National Trophy where they have received a bye in round 1. They will meet Lough Derg or Listowel Celtic in round 2.

MEK Galaxy hit back to send the teams into the break all square. Killarney Athletic had chances to win with Conor Brosnan coming closest for Athletic testing the Galaxy goalkeeper late on. MEK had two good chances at the death, but both were thwarted by Ewan Marshall in the Athletic goal. A point a piece was a fair reflection of the action.Well done all on a sporting game.

Listowel Celtic 2-7 Killarney Athletic B.

A great team performance on the road this morning by the young Blues. Playing with 10 players due to a late pull out Athletic took the game to Listowel  Celtic .Shane Tomlinson bagging an early brace to help settle the team. Listowel Celtic hit back with a penalty before Nathan O’Brien netted a brace of his own to send Athletic in at half time 4-1 up. Killarney Athletic started the second half strong and were awarded a penalty when Darragh Fitzgerald was brought down in the area. Aodhgan O’Suilleabhain stepped up and tucked the penalty away in the corner of the net. James Marshall went on a great solo run to net the next to make it 6-1 to the visitors. Listowel hit back with a cracking free kick which found the top corner. Aodhagán O’Suilleabhain crowned a great captain’s performance with the last kick of the game finding the top corner of the net after a beating a couple of players down the right wing. A special mention for the Killarney Athletic defence and Borys Janusyk who fully deserved the player of the match award. Well done to Listowel Celtic for a sporting game.

Killarney Athletic B 3-2 MEK Galaxy B

Killarney Athletic welcomed MEK Galaxy to the blues ground   . Killarney Athletic started the stronger putting pressure on and it eventually paid off when James O’Callaghan opened the scoring for us to make it 1-0. MEK Galaxy had a free kick awarded which led to an unbelievable delivery from one of their players which levelled the score. This didn’t faze Killarney Athletic as they kept their heads and kept the pressure on. Eventually Athletic would capitalise as our high press paid off when James O Callaghan squared the ball to Ryan Twomey for the second goal of the day. Athletic  went into half time 2-1 up. Athletic started the second half brightly with James O’Callaghan scoring his second of the day to put us 3-1 up. MEK  Galaxy had their chances, but the Killarney defence of Callum Cox, Joshua Sheehan, Adam Moynihan, Paddy O’Donoghue and Ryan O’Callaghan and the Killarney  goalkeeper  proved too strong. However, MEK Galaxy  did respond and managed to get one back to make it 3-2 with 20 minutes left. Killarney Athletic had their chances with Kenneth O’Meara and Jack Fleming but their keeper pulled off some good saves. Killarney managed to hold on and grab their first win of the season. Well done  to MEK Galaxy on a sporting game.

Both our Kerry 12s teams opened their campaign with an away trip to Limerick Desmond. Kerry’s first game ended unfortunately with a 3-2 loss trailed 2-0 at the break to a shot from edge of the box and a set piece. Kerry dominated the 2nd half and deservedly equalised with 2 goals from Eric Corcoran. They went on and got a winner with 3 mins to go and held on.

Kerry’s second team  dominated the second  game  from start .Leading at the break 2-0 through goals from Ryan O Connor and Denys Moiseiev. The second half was more of the same Kerry playing into a strong breeze once again controlled the play and were unlucky not to add to their tally, but the most pleasing aspect was keeping a clean sheet well done to all 20 players that played today in their first outing as Kerry players.

First day nerves were put aside when the whistle blew ,Kerry played with a controlled build-up putting pressure on the North Tipperary defence .Possession was controlled by the Kerry team and this paid off when Kerry scored in the 15 minute. kerry had over 20 passages of play leading to the goal which was smartly finished by  Ronan O connor. Kerry continued their high press and with 3 minutes to go to half time Pa Mc Carthy popped up assuredly slipped the ball beyond the North Tipperary keeper. The second half brought more of the same and Kerry dominated without scoring .Kerry hit the crossbar atwice and the up right once .The score finished 2-0 with stand out performances from Killian O Sullivan and Adrian O Connor.Thr second game produced a 2-2 all draw with fine performances from Enna Hennigen and Jayden Hurley, but the performance of the day over the two games goes to Luke Mac Gearailt who saved a certain goal on his own line and then within 3 minutes ran up the wing ,passed two players and cut inside to hit a shot from 24 metres to the roof of the net .A great start for Kerry.

It was a great performance by the Kerry team that took to the field  against West Cork.

The entire  squad of 22 players played their part in securing a 6-0 win in their opening game of the Interleague session. The Scorers for Kerry  were captain Danny Kingston with a hat trick  Odhran Buckley. Roan Guerin. Mickey Corridon with one a piece.

Kerry now look forward to hosting Limerick Desmond next Sunday at Kilbreen Park.

U15 Inter League

In Kerry’s first game of the SFAI under 15 Inter League, since the Kennedy Cup, Kerry came away winners against a well organised West Cork (who should have been in the final eight of the Kennedy Cup only for a freak set of results)who finished 11th  at the Kennedy Cup  . Ben Kelleher opened the scoring with a blistering run down the right wing to score into the top corner for a fantastic finish. Kerry doubled the scores from a corner when Jayden Fennell found the West Cork net from a corner. Just after half time Jayden Fennell made it 3 with a cool finish into the corner of the West Cork goal. West Cork got two late goals with 5 minutes remaining. But it was Kerry who deservedly came away with the points.

Best for Kerry were Ben Kelleher, Jayden Fennell, Joshua Minnie and Mark O’Carroll. Man of the match was Jack Hallissey with a fantastic display in midfield.

A pulsating encounter between two sides with ambitions of achieving National Success this afternoon in Georgie O Callaghan Park Astroturf, Castleisland. On 5 minutes Kerry hit the crossbar through Leigh Meehan. On 6mins – Cork counterattack, diagonal ball right to left, square pass across edge of area and slot home for 1 – 0 Lead. In the 19 minute  Kerry switch of play left to right and found Leigh Meehan he slipped the pass to Aaron Harty who rounds the keeper and narrowly pulls his effort wide from a very tight angle in the 24minute Kerry make positional change moving Dawid Grebowiec from wide left to central midfield which has immediate impact, another switch of play left to right and pin-point delivery finds the leaping aforementioned Dawid whose header finds the back of the net for the equaliser 1 – 1.34minutes in Kerry on top, diagonal ball left to right finds Leigh Meehan 1v1, skips past defender inside the box and rifles the ball into the top right hand corner of the net,

2 – 1 Kerry. HALF-TIME KERRY 2 – 1 CORK .After the restart Cork start quickly and  level matters in 4 minutes. On 45 minutes Kerry counterpunch superbly, David Moore swings in a great Corner-Kick delivery which is only half cleared to the alert Neal O’ Shea who strikes from outside the box to the bottom left-hand corner of the net, 3 – 2 Kerry.

55mins – Heroic defending from Captain Alex Kelly, goal-line headed clearance over the crossbar Cork equaliser came on the 68 minute  3 all. Two minutes later the game was on a knife-edge with both sides going for it with huge intensity  Cork counterattack to go in front 4 – 3. Kerry change formation & threw the kitchen sink by committing numbers to attack but Cork Defence stand firm for remaining minutes  80mins – Full-time

A Huge advert for SFAI INTER-LEAGUE competitions. The Kerry was outstanding today & more than a match for one of the best sides in the Country at this Level.

Kerry, minus a few players due to injury, will take huge positives out of this top performance they delivered this afternoon which will serve them well for the forthcoming games.
