National Cup Reports;
13’s Round 2:
Four Kerry sides opened their 13’s National Cup campaigns in Round 2 and only for an unfortunate second half collapse by Listowel Celtic all four would have gone through. Killarney Athletic had a tough task as they had to travel to Clare to face Ennis Town but they came through after an excellent 2-0 win. Reese Hegarty and Rory O’Keeffe were the goal scorers.
Mike Rafferty was the Park’s hero as they defeated Mungret Regional 2-1 at Christy Leahy Park as he scored both goals to steer them into the next round.
Killarney Celtic won the all Kerry clash as they knocked out Mastergeeha. The Hoops had Jack Hanrahan 2, Gearoid Looney, Michael Devlin, Sean Doherty and Darren Looney on the score sheet.
Listowel Celtic were level with Aisling Annacotty with 15 minutes to go a Killian Spillane goal evened up matters in the first half. However a few injuries cost the home side and Aisling ran out 6-1 winners.
15’s Round 1:
The three Kerry sides in Round 1 all progressed with Mastergeeha’s win away to Corbally being the highlight. David Gleeson scored twice and Padraig O’Connor once in their 3-1 win.
Two goals from Ferdia O’Brien was enough to send The Park through against Geraldines from Limerick while Killarney Athletic were much too strong for Charleville winning 9-0. David Shaw top scored with 4. Joe Glinwood was make a welcome return to action and he marked this with a hat trick. Pat O’Brien and Aaron Foley were the other socrers.
Four Kerry sides entered the competition in Round 2 at the weekend and three of the four progressed. Listowel Celtic were the one to lose out in the worst way as they went down 3-2 on penalties after their game finished 2-2 after normal and extra time.
Killarney Celtic as expected were too strong for Aisling Annacotty B with Cathal O’Shea, Conor McCarthy, Mikey Moynihan, David Griffin, Jack Galvin, Adam Drew and Darragh Moynihan all on the mark.
Ballyhar made home advantage count as they had a very good 5-2 win over Herbertstown at Murt Scott Park. Kieran Griffin and William Hickey both scored twice with the other being an og.
Fenit and Knockanney were involved in a thriller that ended 4-4 after full time. Credit must go to the home sides fitness as Fenit hit three more in extra time without reply. Dylan O’Regan took home the match ball with a hat trick while Sean Higgins, Fionn O’Brien, David Lenihan and David O’Connor all got one each.
Moriarty’s Centra 11’s
In the Moriarty’s Centra 11’s there were wins for the two Killarney sides in Group 1 with Listowel Celtic and Kingdom Boys drawing. Athletic beat The Park with Celtic overcoming Killorglin.
Killorglin B and Mastergeeha were the winners in Group 2 over the B sides of Killarney and Listowel Celtic.
In Group 3 there were wins for Camp at Ballyhar and Park C at Asdee.
Daly’s Supervalu 13’s:
In the Daly’s Supervalu 13 Premier Inter Kenmare made their debut a winning one as they defeated Killorglin A 5-3. Dylan O’Sullivan got two with David O’Sullivan and Tadgh Sugrue getting one each. However the biggest cheer was for Tom Murrane who scored on his return to action after a collar bone injury.
The O’Connor’s got the Killorglin goals with Mark getting and Gary one.
The two Killarney Celtic teams clashed in Division 1 with as expected the B side overcoming their newly formed club-mates C team. Jason Cahillane got three in a 6-1 win.
Killarney Plaza 15’s:
Camp are becoming the Division 1 draw specialists as they finished level for the second time in their two games. This time it was a 0-0 draw with Killorglin who will be happy enough to get a point after losing their first game.
In Division 2 whatever the Killarney Celtic B management said at half time in their game against the Park B certainly worked. They had lost their first two games and were 1-0 down in this one. But great credit must also go to the players as they turned it around with Diego getting four without reply.
Asdee will be delighted to have won the battle of the sides that won their opening games. They overcame Killarney Athletic B 5-1 thanks to three from Cillian Courtney and one each from Tadgh O’Connor and Michael Dee.
Tralee Trophy World 16’s:
There was one game in the 16 Northern Section with Kingdom Boys having a very important win over Castleisland who had a win and a draw in their opening two games. Eoin Hennessey got 2 with Thomas Keelan and Aaron O’Keffee netting the other two.
